The Next Bodysex Workshops

Taking a bodysex workshop is transformative.  We focus on overcoming negative body image and pleasure anxiety.

Yes, they're done in the nude but it's not sexual.  Betty developed these workshops using the consciousness raising model of second wave feminism where women got together and shared their experience first person. You can read about past workshops to better understand the experience here (scroll down to read blog posts written by Carlin and our Bodysex leaders).

Whatever your race, orientation, upbringing, or country of origin, we have wounds to heal. All are welcome.

The next workshops will be held Spring 2017 on these dates:

Bodysex Certification

If you have any questions or would like to start the certification process, send an email to admin@dodsonandross.com

Mission:

Our goal is to certify women to hold their own Bodysex workshops so that the Betty Dodson method of self-love and sisterhood continues and expands to every country around the world.

When Betty and I first got together, we had this vision of a world map with red lights being illuminated every time someone clicked on D&R. Now we feel that those red lights represent women certified in the Betty Dodson method as each woman holds her own Bodysex workshops.

I'm really focused on ebooks right now because it's the easiest way for us to get our information out globally and keep the lights on.  Betty's memoir My Romantic Love Wars is out as an ebook and we're releasing several how-to sex ebooks including my first writing venture

Menopause & Hormone Replacement: One Sexologist’s Personal Experience

To my knowledge, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for a woman to remain vaginally active long past menopause without some kind of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). It's unfortunate, but each of us must find our own path through trial and error. First off, menopause varies greatly. What many don't know is that more than half of all women in the USA have little to no uncomfortable symptoms. After all, it's a natural transition we all experience. Others suffer with hot flashes, night sweats, sleeplessness, memory loss, etc., symptoms that will eventually pass. However, medical professionals along with our overzealous pharmaceutical companies have turned menopause into a deficiency that needs to be treated.

My Orgasms Were Real But Was My Story?

I read your recent posts about transformation, a new chapter for you both and it resonated with me. I had been reflecting on the past 6 months since attending body sex and I would like to share my thoughts with you.

When I came back from New York not only was I exhausted, I was really confused. The experience was layered with contradicting experiences. I was elated to have met one of my greatest inspirations and to have shared orgasms with an amazing group of women but I had a big question looming about how honest I was.

I questioned myself for several weeks about my authenticity. My orgasms were real but was my story?

Amber Rose's Bush Shot is Feminism

Amber Rose posted this full bush shot to her instagram account in support of her branded Slut Walk.  Of course, instagram removed it and I really had to dig to find an unpixelated copy.

I'm not sure why breasts aren't obscene but bush is - you can't even see anything.  "White" feminists called her out for displaying nudity and undermining the cause.  For the record, I'm white and a feminist and I fucing love Amber's bush shot.

From Nun to Bodysex Leader

There is NOTHING more beautiful, healing and exhilarating than a Bodysex Workshop.

I facilitated my first one today, a baby step that was a Quantum Leap for me personally and for Puritanical New England. Almost a year ago this 64 year old former nun, with life-long “pleasure anxiety” attended a Bodysex Workshop in NYC with Betty Dodson.

Megan Jayne Crabbe Found Beauty in the Softness

I stumbled across Megan Jayne Crabbe's instagram page Body Positive Power and I fell in love.

Above are two pictures of Megan - a before and after her battle with anorexia.  Her message: you can love the body you have now and fuck our diet culture.  She posts pictures and amazing dancing-in-her-panties videos with her giggling rolls of softness:

After doing about 40 Bodysex workshops, I can say that I appreciate all body types.  There's beauty in every dimple, scar, and softness is very appealing (just as much as taut muscle).

Betty's Group Sex Interview in NY Times 1971

Thank you, John, for sending me the link to Group Sex: Is it 'Life Art' or A Sign Something is Wrong.  This article ran in 1971 at the onset of the Sexual Revolution.  Betty is interviewed and quoted.  Here are some of my favorite Bettyisms:

When I got divorced in 1965, I decided to find out everything I could about sexuality,” she said. “I set about letting go of jealousy and possessive feelings, and understanding I could love more than one person. It was the most important thing I ever did.”

Truly Being Vulnerable Means I Do So Without Knowing That I Will Be Received

“Shame is the intensely painful feeling or experience that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging.”
Brene Brown

Last month I attended a conference that included a workshop on shame and vulnerability. As I sat listening, the facilitator shared her belief (based on the teachings of the incredible Brene Brown) that when choosing to speak vulnerably we should connect with someone who has “earned the right to hear our story.” She went on to explain that this means someone trusted — “who cares about you and your feelings enough to receive your vulnerability compassionately”.

Beauty, Strength, Vulnerability & $100M+ at the Box Office

Wonder Woman has raked in over $100M in its opening weekend - the highest for any superhero film ever.

Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman incarnate and bad ass in real life.  She's Israeli and worked as a combat trainer.  And she was 5 months pregnant with her second child when she did her reshoots.  The director, Patty Jenkins, knew that she wanted to display strength and vulnerability in her character:

"I’m tired of sincerity being something we have to be afraid of doing. It’s been like that for 20 years, that the entertainment and art world has shied away from sincerity, real sincerity, because they feel they have to wink at the audience because that’s what the kids like. We have to do the real stories now. The world is in crisis.

Bodysex Builds Compassion

When we book the workshops, I try to book 8 women in each group but there's always one workshop that's underbooked, one that's overbooked, and one that's perfect. This past weekend's group was our overbooked workshop.

We had women from all over the United States - one native New Yorker - and future bodysex leaders from Israel and Canada. More importantly, we had our first mother daughter attendees. I didn't clear it with Betty when I booked them but somehow I knew that it was going to work.

Remembering My Journey

Thanksgiving 2001

As women, I think it's easy to forget our journey. Careers, motherhood and the constant barage of life duties and expectations keep you locked down in the present. Sometimes you need to spend an hour or two answering questions about your life story to remember.

We're finally moving forward with a documentary on Betty with a trusted producer. We don't have any creative control but feel confident that they understand who Betty is and the relevance of her work. It was totally inconvenient but I spent last Saturday, under the lights in full makeup, describing how I ended up on Betty Dodson's door step.

Sophie Emma Rose Normalized Breastfeeding Your Toddler

I remember the first time I viewed this video.  Grayson wasn't even a thought back then but it made a huge impression on me.  Sophie Joy and her son Shay seemed so happy and healthy.  There was something so real and touching about her and the relationship she had with her son.

Last week Sophie Joy was killed in a motorcylce accident in Thailand.  Our hearts go out to her family.  Her loss is felt throughout the world.  As I was breastfeeding Grayson this morning (he's two years old now), I kept thinking of Sophie and Shay.

When Women are Disconnected from Themselves They have Disconnected Partner Sex

Does this scene sound familiar to you?

You are having sex with someone you love. But you’re really fucking frustrated. No matter how much you communicate or what is going on in the {{physical}} plane, you cannot get enough. Insatiable…but not in the hot way.

There is a fixation on lacking something. A feeling of being up in your head. Disconnected from your body. Instead of creating something, you are waiting for something. Waiting for what you want to come to you, to be given to you. Waiting for something/someone to MAKE you cum.
